Guide on Hall Of Monuments | Guild Wars 2 PC (GW2)
Within the Far Shiverpeaks there is an ancient chamber that is known as a place of reverence to the heroes of old. In the 250 years since Guild Wars, the deeds of your past characters still shine on. In Guild Wars 2 the “Hall of Monuments” links to your original Guild Wars accounts and allows all your characters to obtain certain special items that can’t be found anywhere else in the game. By declaring your ancestors (linking accounts) you have shown your worth as a bloodline and are therefore are bestowed special gifts and rewards.
So How Does It Work?
All your achievements and honors accumulated by ALL the characters you played in your GW account are taken into account when calculating the special rewards you receive in GW2. As an example, if one of your characters in your account has accomplished enough to be worth 8 points and another accomplished a calculated amount of 14 points, you will have 22 total points to spend.
Each monument/achievement from Guild Wars is a worth a certain amount of points that provide unique titles, companions, and items in Guild Wars 2.
There is even a free web tool available called the “HoM Reward Calculator” to help you understand how the benefits work and what you will be able to unlock when Guild Wars 2 hits store shelves. The best part is that ALL your new Guild Wars 2 characters will be able to collect these special rewards and not just one.
Only ONE Guild Wars account can lock to ONE account though.
An additional bonus is that any names you used in GW are reserved for Guild Wars 2 if you link your accounts together.
Accessing Your Character-Specific and Account-Specific Information at the Hall
The Hall of Monuments has two different modes, the “account rewards section” and the character specific monument and statues areas. When you enter the Hall, speak with Kimmes the Historian and he will show you your specific account information and all the statues and monuments you have unlocked across all your characters accounts.
Bring On The Rewards

Rewards in GW2’s Hall are exclusive to this location and won’t be found elsewhere in the game world. These include special animal companions for the ranger including the Black Widow Spider and Rainbow Jellyfish. Miniatures such as Orange Tabby Cat can be used by any profession and even a wide selection of specialty weapons and armor are yours for the taking if you have enough points.
The lower level items are usable from the start of the game, but some of the special items won’t be of use until you are at a higher level.
Although these rewards are special and unique, it is also worth mentioning that they are very balanced. New players that didn’t get far or skipped GW altogether won’t be at a disadvantage, they just won’t have access to these specific sets.
Keep in mind actual characters are long dead and there gold has likely long been spent, so no gold or character importing in the Hall.
Unlocking Additional Items Through The Original Guild Wars
If there are achievements you never accomplished in Guild Wars and you would like to go back and do it, you are certainly in luck. The special HoM Calculator will allow you to figure out how much points you would get for achievements you never completed and even print out a to-do list. Best of all, if you play Guild Wars after GW2 is out and unlock new achievements this will add to your points tally in GW2. This is a great idea because it adds a little bit of replay value to the original game by linking the two together.
Registering Monuments and Achievements
- All your items must be registered in the Hall of Monuments in-game in order to receive rewards.
- Miniatures are registered at the Monument of Devotion.
- Heroes and animal companions are registered at the Monument of Fellowship.
- Titles and other special achievements are registered at the Monument of Honor.
- Armor is registered at the Monument of Resilience.
- Weapons are registered at the Monument of Valor.
Bragging Rights
In Guild Wars 2 your Hall of Monuments rewards can link to your favorite social networking platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Rewards can add a lot to a game but if you can’t show them off, they have really little point. Luckily, in GW2 this isn’t a problem. There is nothing sweeter than bragging rights.
