Combat Styles (GW2PC Discussion/Speculation – Subject To Change)
Flame Bomber
Your objective is to scout out the battlefield and analyze the enemy positions then place a turret and any bombs.
Before engaging, place a Rifle Turret on the outside of melee distance for additional damage. As you move closer in range of the enemies, switch to the Bomb Kit and start placing bombs around the enemies. With Concussion or Glue Bomb, you can make sure your enemies stay within a specific area. Once trapped, switch to the Weapon Kit and use Flamethrower to damage the enemies. At any time, switch to the Elixir Gun to heal allies or activate swiftness.
First Aid Burn
Your objective is to provide buff support to your party and inflict conditions on your enemies.
Stay at a distance throughout the fight so you can set a turret, plant bombs, shoot elixirs. The Med Kit will supply you with healing utility skills, and Elixir Gun abilities can help your party, such as the Elixir Spray to remove conditions. Whenever you’re not healing, switch to the Grenade Kit and you can inflict some conditions such as bleeding and blind from Shrapnel and Flash Grenades.

Thoughts
While the Guild Wars 2 Engineer Profession is a completely new profession for Guild Wars 2, it doesn’t add or change any core mechanics of the game, instead it utilizes a simple kit mechanic that categorizes your abilities. The Tool Belt special ability gives the Engineer some extra juice and allows you to maximize your potential by switching between kits. I would say that the Engineer is best as mid-range fighter with its flamethrower, bombs, grenades, and turrets, ensuring that you’ll always have the advantage of the battlefield.
