Guild Wars 2 Races of Tyria | GW2PC

The Human Race of Tyria are survivors, swearing to beat forward no matter the cost. They refuse to believe the Gods betrayed them or that they have fallen from favor. Instead, humans see present times as a great test. While human life has unravelled since the arrival to Tyria, one concept has never changed. They cling to the philosophy that through strong resolve, determination and valor they will conquer the enemy and emerge again. Humans have a long-standing heritage of heroism and honor. Even enemies of the human race know of the great heroes of legend. Through heroism, and by grace of the True Gods, humanity will rise again.

The Norn Race are dauntless people of grand honor and barbaric warrior spirit. For as long as the Norn recall they have made their home in the frozen mountains of the Far Shiverpeaks, far away from the kingdoms of man. Like humanity, they own a long tradition of heroism and lofty deeds. Unlike humans, the Norn do not let the concept of a god dictate their path. The Norn fiercely believe in the spirit of nature and honoring their ancestors. So long as the deeds of their ancestors are sung, they live eternal. Norn take on the shape of great animal spirits in this world such as the bear or even the snow leopard.

The Charr Race have a long and complex history here in Tyria. The vicious feline Charr were once masters of the land east of the Shiverpeaks. This was their grand ancestral home where they pranced for many centuries, unchallenged. In time the humans arrived, backed by their gods. They sought to control Tyria for themselves and soon the Charr were driven from their home, which became the land known as Ascalon. The Charr were noble warriors with great military strength and technology. They vowed not to take defeat lightly and for many centuries fought against humans to reclaim what was once theirs. Human technology and the aid of human gods trounced these efforts, yet the Charr never truly gave up.

The Sylvari Race have not long lived among this world. These strange creatures emerged from the fruit of the mystic Pale Tree on the Tarnished Coast. Appearing humanoid in form, they are really more plantlike in nature, born directly by their mother, the Pale Tree. Roaming Tyria for twenty five years, they already know much about the land and hunger to learn more. Knowledge for these creatures comes from a deep connection to all Sylvari and the Pale Tree herself—known as the Dream.

The Asura Race are rather new to the surface world. There was a time when the genius minds of the long-eared Asura thrived throughout the subterranean world. They were masters of knowledge, ingenuity, and magic. One of their greatest inventions was known as an Asura Gate, a powerful teleporter allowing quick travel throughout the underground world. It was experimentation with the gates that caused destruction of their underground kingdom. The Asura discovered a gate leading to the home of an Elder Dragon Champion, the Great Destroyer. This legendary beast, once awakened, used the Asura’s gates to spread its forces throughout the underground world. Swiftly and effectively the Great Destroyer clobbered the Asuran civilization. Survivors took refuge in the alien world of the surfacers.
