Guild Wars 2 Humans | GW2PC
The Guild Wars 2 Human Race. Some say history has not been kind to the Humans in Tyria. Still they thrust on, gripped by an unshakeable sense of adventure and spirit of honor. Driven by the True Gods, the humans landed in Tyria from the South. For a thriving, prosperous era the Gods walked among them. In time, feuds between five of the True Gods lead to war with the Sixth God, Abaddon. After Abaddon’s defeat, the Gods deserted Tyria forever. The faithful knew they weren’t abandoned by the Gods; simply left to conquer on their own. Humans continued to expand over the lands, displacing many races such as the Centaurs and the Charr.
Humanity stood strong and proud for many centuries,
but the flow of time can change everything. Haunted by internal conflict, the humans became blind and defenseless against the attack of the Charr. The Charr magic of the Searing caused traumatic destruction that invoked the fall of fertile Ascalon. Despite this bitter loss, King Adelbern refused to surrender and invoked the Foefire—a powerful curse that transformed his people into ever-vigilant ghosts. Soon after, the proud nation of Orr vanished beneath the sea. It returned a dark kingdom of the undead, ruled by the Elder Dragon Zhaitan. Even Kryta plunged into civil war, surviving only by the grace of the heroes that rose to defend and protect the human spirit.
In spite of the dark turn of history, the human race pushed through and past the tough times. The world around it only gets harder, but humans refuse to give up and let enemies consume them.
Today humanity is scattered, though one true beacon of hope does stand. Founded in wake of the flooding of Lion’s Arch, the city of Divinity’s Reach beams—a great fortress against a dark world. Each day refugees flock to the city seeking a new life and the chance to start again. Outside of Divinity’s Reach, enemies growl at every turn. Armies of Divinity’s Reach offer protection to surrounding hills and farmland, but war is a constant reality. Centaurs threaten the safety of Kryta’s rural lands. Often these Centaur raids reach even the gates of Divinity’s Reach itself.
Humans of Tyria are survivors, swearing to beat forward no matter the cost. They refuse to believe the Gods betrayed them or that they have fallen from favor. Instead, humans see present times as a great test. While human life has unravelled since the arrival to Tyria, one concept has never changed. They cling to the philosophy that through strong resolve, determination and valor they will conquer the enemy and emerge again. Humans have a long-standing heritage of heroism and honor. Even enemies of the human race know of the great heroes of legend. Through heroism, and by grace of the True Gods, humanity will rise again.
