Guild Wars 2 Sylvari Race | GW2PC
The Guild Wars 2 Sylvari Race have not long lived among this world. These strange creatures emerged from the fruit of the mystic Pale Tree on the Tarnished Coast. Appearing humanoid in form, they are really more plantlike in nature, born directly by their mother, the Pale Tree. Roaming Tyria for twenty five years, they already know much about the land and hunger to learn more. Knowledge for these creatures comes from a deep connection to all Sylvari and the Pale Tree herself—known as the Dream.

The Dream is a sacred song that all Sylvari hear even before their awakening from the Tree and entry into the human world. The Dream sings of the land’s history and gives a glimpse of danger that threatens the world. Many of the great heroes awakened among the Sylvari see this danger as the Elder Dragons. This is why the Sylvari challenge the Elder Dragons the most, often fighting the undead minions of Zhaitan.
In spite of a short history, the Dream has taught the Sylvari about their origin, though even the Sylvari don’t really understand why they are here. Long ago a human named Ronan became separated from his patrol with the Shining Blade. He struck a cavern filled with strange seeds and guarded by powerful plant creatures. He left the cavern with one of these seeds, prepared to present the gift to his family. The human soon discovered his entire village slaughtered. In grieving, he planted the seed on the graves of his family and swore never again to wield the sword in battle. Ronan was joined by an aged Centaur named Ventari, who sought continual conflict. Together they found a place for refugees over the shade of the growing Tree. In time the Centaur and Ronan passed, but through them the Tree learned the histories of the human and Centaur race, passing the knowledge down to the fruit that became her children.
The Sylvari do not possess the numbers of superior races of Tyria, yet the thirst to learn about the world has made them a primal part of events. They do not have kingdoms—the Grove of the Pale Tree thrives as their own grand, multilevel, organic city. The Sylvari are divided into cycles and each cycle seeks guidance from the Firstborn. The Firstborn act as tutors, mediators, and guides. The true leader of the Sylvari is their home, the Pale Tree herself.
The Sylvari have yet to prove their worth to the world as a new race. They face challenges at every turn. Races such as the Asura have shown that not everyone shares their virtuous and kind nature. Perhaps the unholiest threat lurks in the form of those among the Sylvari who have rejected the Dream or embraced its dark tunes for new salvation. These darker Sylvari have formed the Nightmare Court, and add nightmares to the Dream. They desire to one day change the balance and turn the Pale Tree to their side.
The future of the Sylvari is an evasive shadow. Many races look at them as naïve, taking things at face value and valiantly sticking to virtue. The Sylvari may not understand what the Dream warns of, but they no doubt have a crucial role in the events unfolding before them.
